We worked alongside several of the industry's leading electrical contractors on Building the Education Revolution projects around Melbourne, designing and programming the automation systems for the template school buildings.

The design used Clipsal C-Bus to control lighting, power and ventilation. Lighting level sensors hold the light level in each space and switch off when a room is unoccupied. Power for hot water, boiling water and gas heating runs only while the building is occupied, cutting consumption outside school hours.

Ventilation is handled by ceiling fans, motorised louvred windows and roof vents, interfaced with the HVAC control system that regulates building temperature. The whole building is operated from a single C-Touch MK2 screen.

We have developed automation systems for sand and rock processing plants across Victoria, taking plants from switchroom installation through to full SCADA control.

SCADA gives the plant operator a live graphic of the process, feeders, conveyors, screens, pumps and wash sections, with control of each from the same screen. Faults surface where the operator is already looking instead of at the equipment.

Our client list includes some of the largest companies in Australia, among them Hanson, Boral, BP Australia, Donmix, Local Mix, Barrow Group and Goodman Fielder.

Purpose-built switchrooms craned into position on site, then terminated, commissioned and integrated with the plant's control system.

Working on live processing sites means the cut-over window is short and fixed. The switchroom is built and tested off site so that time on site is spent connecting and proving, not building.

A full SCADA interface for a sand washing and screening plant: feed rate, conveyors, grizzly and screen, sump and pump status, classifier and sand washing, all on one operator screen with start and stop control at each point.

Alarms and interlocks are shown in the same view as the process, so an operator can see why the plant has stopped as well as that it has.

Thirty-six townhouse-style homes over three levels, built on a former tannery site overlooking the Yarra, in an area that has since become a popular residential pocket.
